With Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) on the rise and becoming a major public healthcare challenge, breaking the chains of transmission is more urgent than ever.

In response to this challenge, French National Health Insurance, Assurance Maladie, is expanding its ‘My STI Test’ (Mon test IST) initiative to a new at-home screening kit for women aged 18 to 25.

To guarantee the rapid distribution of kits, Assurance Maladie was looking for a robust and agile logistics partner. This is how the partnership between Viaposte and Assurance Maladie was born.

My STI Test: background and key objectives

In response to the dramatic rise in STIs over recent years, free, prescription-free laboratory tests had already been made available to men and women under the age of 26.

To raise awareness and make testing even more accessible, Assurance Maladie has now developed another option that is simple, discreet, and free of any upfront charge. The ‘My STI Test’ initiative kicked off on 1 July 2025, allowing citizens—currently women only—to order at-home screening kits.

Designed to detect the two most common bacterial STIs, Chlamydia trachomatis, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the tests are part of the French government’s broader strategy for prevention and public awareness, informed by the recommendations of the National Health Authority (HAS) and the Social Security Financing Act (LFSS).

360° support for the fight against STIs

The partnership between Viaposte and French National Health Insurance, Assurance Maladie, was launched following a competitive selection process. Assurance Maladie was seeking a partner to ensure:

  • Fully integrated order management: directly and securely connecting the information system with the Assurance Maladie ‘My STI Test’ order platform, to guarantee the complete traceability of every order.
  • Preparation and assembly of the kits: the assembly of all the elements of each kit according to a rigorous process guaranteeing the conformity and quality of its contents.
  • Anonymous packaging: the use of opaque packaging designed to ensure the anonymity and confidentiality of both sender and recipient.
  • Secure storage: storage of the materials at a certified Viaposte logistics facility, meeting strict standards of traceability, security and hygiene.
  • Shipping within 72 business hours: the dispatch of personalized kits within a guaranteed timeframe, regardless of order volume, thanks to agile, high-performance logistics organisation.

A word about the partnership from Viaposte Customer Relations Director Elodie Letzgus-Coudurier

Launched in July 2025, the partnership between Viaposte and Assurance Maladie is already finely tuned.

“The testing materials are stored at our Fontenoy-sur-Moselle logistics hub. As soon as orders come in, our teams pick and ship the kits,” explains Letzgus-Coudurier.

“Each kit contains the testing materials, an accompanying letter, an instructional pamphlet, and a testing lab form. The preparation of orders therefore demands meticulous work and attention to detail.”

“Each woman receives her order directly in her mailbox and with no visible markings or logos, to guarantee discretion, which is crucial for encouraging this demographic to take this important step!” continues Elodie.

To simplify the forwarding of samples to laboratories, Viaposte makes use of La Poste’s dedicated ‘healthcare return’ envelopes: a postage-paid format designed for easy letterbox drop-off. This is all the more convenient, given that Viaposte is part the La Poste group.

“The first results? Since launching in summer 2025, more than 3,000 kits have already been shipped! And the adventure is far from over: the scheme will soon be open to men as well.”

We are happy to contribute to a public interest mission!” concludes Letzgus-Coudurier.
